When we write, we are attempting to bridge the subjectivity that isolates us from each other. Yet this is always imperfect, subject to noise, weathering, erosion, and misunderstanding. The effort seems to me to be imbued with pathos. We try to connect, yet we fail.
I am interested in systems of communication, particularly at the point of ambiguity or failure. The images in this long series are intended as metaphors for the fragility of communication.
