In writing or drawing, there is an effort to bridge the subjectivity that isolates us, one from another. This effort always seems to me to be imbued with pathos. We try to connect, yet we fail.
I am interested in systems of communication, particularly at this point of ambiguity or failure. The images in this series, begun over 20 years ago, are intended as metaphors for the fragility of communication.
